Destiny 2: Beyond Light pre-order guide and merch

This Destiny 2: Beyond Light pre-order guide brings a few things. First, it will say what comes in the upcoming expansion (but not the next two) as well as some great merchandise that any Destiny fan would like. There’s something for everyone, even if you can’t currently buy the expansion from every outlet.

Beyond Light is the 2020 expansion coming on September 22 and there are four different editions that escalate in price. You can currently only pre-order it digitally through the console or PC storefronts, as it isn’t on other brick and mortar online stores yet.

The first is the most basic. It comes with just the expansion. Pre-ordering it will net you the Exotic Rimed Ghost Shell and a Legendary Emblem. It will be $39.99.

The Season+ bundle is the next step up. It includes the expansion, access to one season of content (it begins with Season 12), and the Stranger’s Weapon Pack that has the No Time to Explain Exotic Pulse Rifle and No Time to Explain Exotic Catalyst. Pre-ordering it also gets you the aforementioned Exotic Rimed Ghost Shell and Legendary Emblem. It will be $49.99.

The Deluxe Edition is the next step up. It comes with the expansion, four seasons of content (beginning with Season 12), the Stranger’s Weapon Pack, a freeze tag exotic emote, and Stranger’s Upgrade path that has the Any Other Sky Exotic Sparrow and No Time to Explain Exotic Ornament. Pre-ordering it also gets you the aforementioned Exotic Rimed Ghost Shell and Legendary Emblem. It will be $69.99.

The Collector’s Edition is the most extreme. It does not come with a physical copy of the game. However, it does include a digital code for the game, the expansion, four seasons of content (beginning with Season 12), Stranger’s Weapon Pack, Stranger’s Upgrade path, Beyond Light digital soundtrack, Die-cast Splinter of Darkness Replica with lights, Europa Exploration Canteen, Europa Explorer’s Bag, Mysterious Logbook, Exclusive Collector’s Edition Emblems, and “other discoveries from Europa,” which is quite nebulous.

Pre-ordering it will get you the Rimmed Shell Exotic Ghost Shell, Legendary Emblem, and Exotic Freeze Tag Emote. It will cost $199.99 if you want the game with it and it will be $129.99 if you get the version without the game. You can go here to grab it. Be sure to pick the right version!

Destiny 2 Merch Guide | Books

But what if you just want some Destiny 2 merchandise instead? Here are some things to get, starting with books.

Art is always a good place to start for any fan, especially for a fan of Bungie, given the team’s stellar art direction. Both Destiny games have an art book that will work for anyone curious to see concept art or willing to cover the empty space on their coffee table.

Posters are also a good place to go from there. They’ve both got plenty of removable posters for players to hang up, which, again, benefit from Bungie’s killer art direction. There is one for each game.

Art books are good, but some may want more than that. The Collector’s Edition Guide may be for you if you want some of the good Bungie art as well as some tips and tricks about the game itself. This hardcover book is like a mix of an art book and strategy guide and even has a foreword from the game director, which is presumably Luke Smith although he is not directly named.

But what if you want to make your own art? There is an official sketchbook for that. Yes, it is blank — it is a sketchbook after all — but it’s got a slick cover based on the Rise or Iron expansion that should be good enough for fans of the series.

And what if you don’t want to draw, but write? The Ghost Journal may be more up your alley. This sleek journal has 232 lined pages for you to write your own stuff, be it some steamy fan fiction, your thoughts on the game’s lore, or your favorite recipes.

Bungie has something for the lore-heads out there, too. There are two Grimoire compendiums for the games, filled with lore that some criticized for not being in the actual game. While it’s a valid complaint, at least the books look nice.

If you were one of those people who wanted to write down recipes, then Bungie also has something for you, oddly enough. The official cookbook has a ton of recipes inspired from the game by Eva Levante, which players might recognize from the game. It even comes with an in-game emblem. A cookbook would be a bizarre but ultimately satisfying addition to your Destiny merchandise.

Destiny 2 Merch Guide | Stickers and console skins

You’re a big Destiny fan so why not show it with stickers and console skins? There are console skins for the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch, even though Bungie has yet to put a game on the latter system. The PS4 and Switch skins come with controller skins as well. The Xbox version is just the skin.

Stickers are good for consoles, but what about those who want to show off some Destiny love on their vehicle or laptop? There’s a sticker of the game’s logo you can grab. It’s around four inches so it should fit on most things you have.

Destiny 2 Merch Guide | Toys and collectibles

People love collecting toys and collectibles and, of course, there’s a lot of that for Destiny players. Funko Pops are the bane or some people’s existence but they’re popular for a reason. There are a few Destiny ones you can grab, including one of popular wisecrack Cayde-6. It doesn’t come with Nathan Fillion’s voice though.

A Ghost would be the next best thing. These little guys can stand upon your desk or any flat surface and aren’t loud as a Funko Pop. There are two different Ghosts you can choose from.

Lunchboxes are hardly used as actual boxes for housing food. They’re usually just collectibles. Regardless, there are a few Destiny-themed lunchboxes you can choose from on each of the core classes from the game: Hunter, Titan, and Warlock. Just be sure to choose what class you want before you buy it.

If you like chess and also like Destiny, there is a product that merges both. It’s pretty self-explanatory as it is a chess set with Destiny characters but it is a nice touch that each side has different characters from the game.

Destiny 2 Merch Guide | Clothing and cups

If you want to show your Destiny love in other areas — like in what you wear or what you drink out of — there are ways for that, too.

The Destiny backpack can fit a lot of different things in it, but it seems mainly designed around fitting consoles in it, given its shape. It sounds made for those who want to bring their system over to someone else’s house and play like some other game Bungie used to make.

If you really like Cayde-6, then you may want to get his hoodie and hat. They may not match together, but they do match in spirit, given who is plastered on both of them. Just keep in mind how subtle the hat is and how loud the hoodie is.

Cayde-6 may be a machine, but, judging by the game’s teaser trailer, needs a drink, too. Thankfully, there are a few Destiny-themed ways to get your drink on, be it vodka or water. There are pretty self-explanatory pint glasses with the game’s art on it. However, the mugs and steel bottle are the best choices here. The mugs are cleverly heads of the game’s characters (Cayde-6 and the Titan and Warlock classes) and look pretty slick. The stainless steel bottle is dramatically more subtle and will last you longer and is built for those on the go.
