Is Black Ops Cold War split-screen?

Yes, you can play Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War split-screen. The split-screen option is available with local or online multiplayer game modes. Just remember that both players won’t be able to play online without valid Xbox Live or PlayStation Network accounts.

While split-screen gameplay has been available since launch, Black Ops Cold War doesn’t really do much to explain how it works. Luckily for you, we can help with that.

How to play Black Ops Cold War split-screen

To play Black Ops Cold War split-screen, you’ll obviously need a second player and controller. Assuming you’ve got that, load up the game, then turn on the second controller. The second player will then have to sign in to an account.

You can use a guest account if you don’t plan to go online, limiting you to local multiplayer. Otherwise, the second player will have to sign in to an account with a valid Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Network subscription. They’ll also need to have a valid Activision account.

That’s almost all there is to it. Once a second controller has been activated, you can head to the Graphics settings to choose either a horizontal or vertical split. Choose whichever works best for you and your buddy.

If you’re using a guest account, the split-screen offerings are limited to offline play. From the main menu, flip the toggle from online to offline. Then you’ll be able to load into a multiplayer lobby of your choice. If you’re using proper Activision accounts with active online subscriptions, you can leave it on the online setting and join online multiplayer.
