Nintendo Switch Lite Charger | What AC adapters work with the Switch Lite?

The Nintendo Switch Lite comes with a charger, but a second AC adapter is always handy. Unfortunately, USB-C adapters and cords come in a wide range of specifications. Given the Switch Lite’s power requirements, players can’t use just any power brick available. We’ll take a look at what voltage, wattage, and amps the Switch Lite requires and which chargers meet these below.

What specs does a Nintendo Switch Lite charger have to meet?

Nintendo Switch HAC-2

The Switch Lite comes with the same AC adapter as the standard console, the HAC-002. This charger meets the following specs:

  • Input: 100-240V, 1.0 A, 50/60Hz
  • Output: 5V/1.5A, 15V/2.6A

So, technically, any charger that meets those specs can be used to charge the Switch Lite. The HAC-002 is available separately, though it’s more expensive than third-party solutions. For those that don’t want to worry about matching specs, this is a good purchase.

Best Nintendo Switch Lite charger replacement

Ankler Switch Lite Charger1

The best Switch Lite charger replacement is the original, but there are third-party products that can provide the same function at less cost. However, just because a product on Amazon calls itself a Switch charger doesn’t mean it’ll work as described.

One thing to watch for when purchasing a third-party AC adapter for the Switch Lite is that it outputs at 15V/2.6A. A product that outputs 5V/1.5A will charge the battery, but doesn’t provide enough power to allow users to play games simultaneously. Using a weaker charger will cause the battery to continue draining, albeit at a slower pace, while using the console.

The best third-party Switch Lite charger isn’t likely going to be marked as a Switch charger at all. Instead, users should purchase a quality, name-brand power brick, and a separate USB Type-C cable. The cable only needs to meet USB Type-C PD spec, so money can be saved by purchasing a cord marked for power delivery-only instead of one that provides power and data transfer.

An advantage third-party charges have over the stock adapter besides price is utility. For example, the Anker PowerPort Atom PD paired with an Anker Powerline III USB-C to USB-C Charger Cable can charge up to two Switch consoles at a time.
