The launch of Resident Evil Village is right around the corner. A new mainline entry in Capcom’s survival horror series is enough to get just about anyone excited, though Lady Dimitrescu is taking hype to a whole new level. But, what about all of the Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite owners looking to dance with Dimitrescu and her daughters? Is there a Resident Evil Village Nintendo Switch release date? Here’s the need-to-know on an RE8 Switch version for Nintendo’s hybrid handheld.
Is Resident Evil Village coming to Nintendo Switch?
Resident Evil Village is launching across supported platforms on May 7, 2021. At the time of writing, however, there is no Resident Evil Village Nintendo Switch release date.
Village is releasing on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Neither Capcom nor Nintendo has many announcements regarding a potential RE8 Switch port.
Could a Resident Evil Village Switch version happen? Yes, most definitely. Nintendo has experimented with bringing high-end games to the Switch platform via streaming, and one of these games is Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Village is a direct sequel to that game and also runs on the RE Engine, so there’s definitely a chance.
There’s also a long history between the Resident Evil series and Nintendo consoles. Capcom has developed numerous titles as platform exclusives, and there are even rumors of a Switch-exclusive Resi game being in the works. Keeping this relationship and the demand for the franchise in mind, it seems like coming up with a solution would be in all parties’ best interest.
Of course, it’s only possible to speculate right now, though stick around for updates on a possible Resident Evil 8 Nintendo Switch release.
In other gaming news, despite the game’s save system being divisive, Returnal is fantastic. Everyone can agree that the mechanic does have at least one major flaw, however.
