Fortnite went offline today with a message reading “to be continued…” After that, the game went offline and has been inaccessible since then. This leaves many fans wondering when they’ll be able to play Fortnite again. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long, and players are in for a big surprise when the game comes back online.
When can I play Fortnite again?
Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 8, will begin on Monday, September 12 at 5 am ET.
Season 7 concluded with the short limited-time Operation Skyfire. After that, the game displayed the message “to be continued” and went offline. Some players were confused when the game didn’t immediately launch into the next season. Unfortunately, those who wanted to play on Sunday night are out of luck as the Fortnite servers are down for the big season 8 update.
Operation: Sky Fire had players sneaking aboard the alien mothership to deliver IO’s final message and wrap up Fortnite Season 7’s story. Players also noticed that they were all equipped with backpacks when they ascended to the ship. “Kevin,” the mysterious pink cube from the first chapter of Fortnite, made an appearance too, killing players before once again going dormant. The backpacks ended up turning into bombs, but before they exploded, players were able to “reboot” Kevin, turning it blue. As the bombs exploded, it was revealed that many Kevins had been rebooted, and they began falling into the island below.
The season ended when a piece of detritus struck the player, and the “To Be Continued…” screen appeared, and the game went offline, leaving us with a ton of questions. Fortunately, one of those questions isn’t when the game will be available to play again. Again, Fortnite will come back online when Chapter 2, Season 8, launches tomorrow morning at 5 am ET.
