Obtaining crafting resources in New World isn’t too tough. However, those that need a large amount of a specific resource will want to know how to track it on the map. Unfortunately, this useful ability isn’t immediately available at the start of the game. We’ll explain how New World players can track resources on the map below.
How do you track resources on the map in New World?
To track resources on the map in New World, players need to reach a certain level in their trade skills.
As a player harvests resources, it’ll level up harvesting, mining, tracking, and skinner, or logging. Once these professions hit a certain level, players will earn the perk of tracking particular resources on their map. This is immensely useful since some things in the game take a massive amount of crafting material to complete.
The unlock levels for tracking resources in New World are:
Logging:
- Wyrdwood: Level 125
- Ironwood: Level 175
Mining
- Iron: Level 25
- Silver: Level 35
- Oil: Level 45
- Gold: Level 70
- Alchemy Stones: Level 75
- Starmetal: Level 125
- Platinum: Level 135
- Lodestone: Level 155
- Orichalcum: Level 200
Harvesting
- Farm Plants: Level 20
- Hemp: Level 25
- Magical Plants: Level 45
- Silkweed: Level 125
- Magical Creatures: Level 175
- Wirefiber: Level 175
Tracking and Skinning
- Small Prey: Level 25
- Medium Prey: Level 50
- Large Prey: Level 75
- Small Predator: Level 125
- Large Predator: Level 175
Unfortunately, there’s no way to filter what’s being tracked on the map. This means, the longer the game goes on, the more cluttered the map will look. Fortunately, resource clusters are spread out well enough that things don’t get too busy.
Gaining levels in fishing also unlocks icons on the map, but these are different types of fishing spot instead of being certain species or types of fish.
Since players have to gain levels to track resources on the map in New World, it can be handy to power level a few trade skills early in the game. This way, a player is able to maximize their resource collection as they travel around doing quests.
