Army of Thieves zombies

Does Army of Thieves have zombies?

Are there Army of Thieves zombies? The new Army of the Dead prequel is out now and takes place before the events of Zack Snyder’s incredibly successful zombie movie from earlier this year, but are there actually zombies in Army of Thieves? Will there be any reference to the zombie outbreak or is there any connection between Army of Thieves and Army of the Dead — or even Army of the Dead 2, possibly titled Planet of the Dead?

Is Army of Thieves a zombie movie?

Army of Thieves zombies

Army of Thieves is not a zombie movie like Army of the Dead was, but it does feature a few zombies and references to the zombie outbreak.

While Army of Thieves is a prequel to Army of the Dead, fans may recall that Army of the Dead features a six-year time jump after the initial zombie outbreak that engulfs Las Vegas. Army of Thieves takes place prior to this time jump but during the same time as the beginning of the zombie invasion. Consequently, there are references on the news to zombies, and zombies even appear a few times during Dieter’s (Matthias Schweighöfer) dreams. However, the action takes place in Germany whereas the zombie attack is happening in America, so zombies do not really appear in the movie.

Army of Thieves, despite being released in time for Halloween and being a prequel to this year’s biggest zombie movie, is not itself a zombie movie or a horror movie — it’s an action-heist movie, and a fun one at that. It’s also not directed by Zack Snyder, he produced it with Matthias Schweighöfer himself directing. Snyder’s had a pretty successful year, nonetheless, taking into account Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves, and the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League — despite Warner Bros removing John Stewart’s Green Lantern from the Snyder Cut.
