It’s not only certified fresh, but it’s actually the highest-rated movie of Zack Snyder’s career — beating the recently-released Zack Snyder’s Justice League and the director’s previous zombie movie, the acclaimed remake of Dawn of the Dead.

The critical reviews are in for Army of the Dead and the Rotten Tomatoes score for the movie is Certified Fresh at 77%, which makes it the highest-rated movie directed by Zack Snyder. His previous highest-rated movie was his first zombie feature, 2004’s remake of Dawn of the Dead at 75%, with the recent ‘Snyder Cut’ of Justice League standing at 71%, Watchmen at 65%, and 300 at 61%.
While the audience reaction to Army of the Dead is not yet available, since the movie isn’t released on Netflix until May 21, the audience scores for Zack Snyder’s movies tend to veer significantly higher than the critical reaction. However, Army of the Dead will have a tough time beating Zack Snyder’s Justice League on audience score, which currently stands at a whopping 94%.
Director Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead is a return to the zombie horror genre where he made his name and stars Dave Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, SPECTRE). The movie will start streaming on Netflix worldwide on May 21, although it will also have a limited theatrical run shortly before that.
