Some Call of Duty: Vanguard players are finding that the campaign remains locked, even after multiplayer and Zombies are available. How to unlock grayed-out campaign in Call of Duty: Vanguard

Call of Duty Vanguard Locked Campaign Fix

Those that find the campaign locked in Call of Duty: Vanguard may think its a bug, but it’s not. The issue with the campaign being grayed out is a product of how the game is installed. When this occurs, multiplayer and Zombies have been installed, but the campaign has not.

There are a few ways to fix the locked campaign. For most players, it’s likely still in the queue to be installed and is downloading. On PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, the console throttles download speeds when in-game, so it can take a while to install the single-player story.

Alternatively, there’s a chance that the campaign wasn’t queued when the player initiated the download for Call of Duty: Vanguard. Fortunately, this time around, there’s an easy way to make sure the right content packs are downloaded. Players should just highlight the campaign option on the main menu and look along the bottom. There should be a button prompt that says “State Install.” Press the correlating button on the controller, and the campaign content packs should queue if they weren’t already downloading.

The grayed-out campaign option can also sometimes occur on the main menu, even when the single-player mode is installed. To fix it, players need to exit the game completely and relaunch it. This will usually be enough to fix the issue. However, if it doesn’t, restarting the console or reinstalling the game entirely might be required.
