The release date of Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 1 is nearly upon us. After a delay due to COVID-19, production has wrapped and we’ll be seeing Jean-Luc Picard’s next adventure soon. Here’s when viewers can see the first episode of the second season and where to watch it at.

What is the release date for Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 1?

The Star Trek Picard Season 2 Episode 1 release date is March 3, 2022. The season consists of ten episodes and will start at the conclusion of Star Trek Discovery Season 4 and run until May 5, the same day Star Trek Strange New Worlds premieres.

Shooting for seasons two and three ran back-to-back, but they’ll both be separate stories. The second season of Picard deals with time travel and looks to feature Q. In addition to John de Lancie as Q, season two will see most of the main cast return aside from Harry Treadaway as Narek. The Borg Queen will also make her return, this time played by Annie Wersching.

Other than the general premise, not much is known about the plot of Picard Season 2. The trailers we’ve seen so far seem to indicate a timeline where a corrupted, authoritarian version of the Federation came to power. To stop this, Picard and crew need to return to the 21st century. I’m sure this is going to be filled with cringeworthy and thinly-veiled allegories to current politics. I’m on pins and needles to see the gang take down Ronald Thwump and his time alien backers.

I don’t have the highest hopes for Picard Season 2. The first season was poorly-paced and showed a strange future for Star Trek that seemed to fly in the face of everything that came before it.
