We finally got the Resident Evil: Village DLC release date, a year after it was announced at the Capcom Digital Showcase. The Winters’ Expansion was revealed, which will consist of a story DLC called Shadows of Rose, The Mercenaries Additional Orders, and a new third-person mode camera. A new version of the game will launch alongside the expansion called Resident Evil: Village Gold Edition. Read on below for release info for all this new content.
What is the release date for the Resident Evil: Village DLC?
The Resident Evil: Village DLC will release on October 28, 2022. This includes all the content in the Winters’ Expansion, including Shadows of Rose, The Mercenaries Additional Orders, and third-person mode. Pricing information for the DLC hasn’t been announced yet, but, according to the PlayStation Blog, those who don’t own the game yet will be able to purchase Resident Evil: Village Gold Edition, which includes the base game and the Winter’s Expansion starting on October 28 as well.
The DLC will add quite a bit of content to the game. The Mercenaries Additional Orders adds Chris Redfield, Karl Heisenberg, and Alcina Dimitrescu as playable characters. There are also new levels to play through, which should add even more replayability to the fan-favorite mode.
Shadows of Rose takes place 16 years after the events of Resident Evil: Village. It centers around Rose’s struggle with her powers. She desperately wants to be a normal girl, and in an effort to get rid of them, she searches deep within herself and enters the consciousness of the Megamycete. However, the Megamycete contains the combined memories, fears, and horrors, of every person it ever came in contact with, and Rose will have to conquer more than a century of death and devastation to achieve her goal.
Finally, the third-person mode allows players to experience the whole game from a new perspective. Those who prefer the over-the-shoulder camera seen in Resident Evil 2 and 3 will appreciate the ability to play in this mode.
