Fans can’t wait for a Blade release date. The character is returning to the silver screen for the first time in almost 25 years. We’ll take a look at where Blade’s place in Phase Five of the MCU is and when moviegoers can expect to see it.
When will the Blade reboot movie release date be?
The new Blade movie has a release date of November 3, 2023 which puts it roughly in the middle of MCU Phase 5. It’ll star Mahershala Ali as Blade and the character’s first visual appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Ali did an uncredited vocal cameo as the character in the Eternals post-credits scene, so the Blade reboot won’t technically be his first movie.
This will be the first blockbuster-level film for director Bassam Tariq and screenwriter Stacy Osei-Kuffour. As such, some fans are nervous about how the end product will turn out. No information has been revealed about the story yet, and we can only assume it will be a reboot. The character might have a similar presentation to what we saw in the New Line Cinema trilogy. However, it’s doubtful that any of that story will carry over.
Have there been any Blade movie leaks?
So far, Disney has kept a tight ship concerning MCU Phase Five productions. Supposedly, Marvel Studios has had a script in mind for a new Blade film since shortly after it reacquired the rights from New Line Cinema in 2012.
At one point in 2015, Wesley Snipes and Marvel spoke about him reprising the titular role. There was also talk about crossover with Underworld and bringing back Kate Beckinsale as Selene. However, the studio decided against doing a standalone movie and wanted to reserve the character for an eventual introduction into the MCU.
Hopefully, we’ll see Wesley Snipes make a cameo of some sort. Perhaps he could even be the new Whistler (or Jamal Afari if they’re sticking close to the comic lore)?
