When James Gunn released Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he created a legendary character that audiences have not forgotten about. Baby Groot is an adorable talking tree with a limited vocabulary voiced by Vin Diesel, and very soon, Marvel fans will be getting more of one of their favorite cute characters. I Am Groot is a series of five animated shorts that feature Baby Groot getting into trouble on a few fun adventures.
When is the I Am Groot release date?
I Am Groot is set to premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 12:00 AM PT / 3:00 AM ET. All five short films will be released on the streaming service at once, as opposed to their typical weekly model. Each short lasts about four minutes, and they are all reminiscent of classic Saturday morning slapstick cartoons.
The shorts were created by Kirsten Lepore, and Diesel reprises his role as Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Bradley Cooper also has a brief appearance as Rocket Raccoon. James Gunn, writer and director of the Guardians movies, serves as an executive producer on I Am Groot, and he has a cameo voice appearance in the series as Wrist Watch.
I Am Groot takes place between Guardians of the Galaxy and one of the mid-credits scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Luma Pictures worked on the shorts to provide photorealistic animation, and Danielle Luppi is the composer. This series of shorts is sure to offer a lot of amusement to younger viewers of the MCU, with each short featuring little to no dialogue and a lot of fun, adorable antics. Five additional shorts are currently in development, but fans will not have to wait long for their first dose of laughs and small-scale adventures in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
