Fans are hoping for an I Am Groot Season 2 after seeing the initial run of adorable shorts on Disney Plus. We’ve only got a few opportunities to see Groot outside of the Guardians of the Galaxy films, so it was nice to see him and Rocket get the spotlight. But, will we get more adventures centering around our favorite treant?
I Am Groot Season 2 release date rumors
We do know that I Am Groot Season 2 is on its way. As reported by the official Marvel site, it was announced a second batch of shorts was ordered at SDCC in July 2022.
Unfortunately, we weren’t given a release date. However, given that the first season was only 25 minutes in total, we’d be surprised if we didn’t see them next year at the latest. Hopefully, the popularity of the first run will inspire Marvel to make a full-scale show featuring Groot and Rocket. If that’s the case, it may take a bit longer for a second season to premiere.
We’re going to go ahead and assume that season 2 will be connected to the launch of Guardians of the Galaxy 3 in May 2023. So maybe they’ll be released as a promo for that film.
I Am Groot Season 2 Plot
Given that the first season of I Am Groot is light on plot, we expect the same for the second. The shorts are completely detached from any stories seen in other MCU works, so the creators could go anywhere with them.
If it’s canon, then it takes place between the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and the movie’s post-credits scene. So, a second season could feasibly explore the aftermath of that film’s events.
I Am Groot Season 2 Leaks
We haven’t found any credible leaks concerning I Am Groot Season 2. Of course, it’s possible details about the show might leak, but it seems like Marvel and Disney have been keeping things a bit more locked down lately.
