Destiny 2 expansion vaulting is completely over. In today’s showcase, Bungie promised it was getting rid of sunsetting for good, and players won’t need to fear losing out on expansion content in the future.
Destiny 2 expansion vaulting is ending
All the content currently available in Destiny 2 will remain indefinitely. Bungie previously vaulted the original Red War campaign and the Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken expansions. The company claimed this was due to limitations of the game engine and a desire to be more innovative with future adventures.
Sunsetting was a controversial topic among the Destiny community, as many felt it was unfair that content they had paid for was being removed. Bungie ended up walking back the vaulting of weapons and armor a few months after it was introduced. Still, it continued removing content through Destiny 2 Year 5.
However, everything won’t be sticking around. Seasonal content will continue to be vaulted with the launch of each new expansion. So, if you want to participate in seasonal storylines, you’ll need to make sure to hit them in the year or so that they’re available.
Now’s a great time to start this year’s seasonal storyline as Season 18 just launched today.
