Fighting the Warpriest boss in the King’s Fall raid in Destiny 2 isn’t the toughest challenge the game offers, but it is a bit tricky. Like with many raid bosses, to defeat the Warpriest, you have to complete a puzzle to cause damage to it. So here’s what to do with the glyphs, plates, and Brand of the Initiate buffs to take him down.
What to do with the glyphs and plates in the Warpriest boss fight in Destiny 2
You’ll need to stand on all three plates to start the fight when you enter the arena. So your first order of business is to kill enemies until the two Blistered Wizards spawn and are defeated. Then, two Revenant Knights will appear. Kill them, and you’ll see a message saying, “Glyph reading sequence started.”
Reading the glyphs
One player needs to start the glyph sequence by standing on the middle plate. Look to the right and left to see if one of the pillars lights up. If not, then the center plate is first.
Once you know which plate is first, have a player stand on it, and once again, look at the other pillars. Next, have the second player stand on the plate in front of the next lit pillar. Then have a player stand on the remaining plate.
Brand of the Initiate
The last player on a plate will gain the Brand of the Initiate. Those with the brand and those standing near them will get the Aura of the Initiate buff. This is essential to the fight since only those with the aura can damage the Warpriest.
However, there’s a catch. Those with Brand of the Initiate have fifteen seconds to pass the brand to someone else, or they’ll instantly die. To pass it, one of the team will need to search out the Blightguard Knight and collect and collect the Brand Claimer orb.
The player with the Blight Claimer can steal the Brand of the Initiate from the one that currently has it. The catch here is that a different player must take the Brand of the Initiate each time.
The key to maximizing damage to the Warpriest is to keep the loop going as long as possible and pass the Brand of the Initiate to as many teammates as possible.
The Oculus
Eventually, you’ll see a message that says, “The Warpriest calls upon the Oculus. When you see this, the team will need to hide in the shadow of one of the glyph pillars. Those that don’t will be insta-killed by the Oculus. When the Oculus fires, it’ll destroy the pillar you’re hiding behind, and the loop will restart from the top.
Since there are only three pillars, players have a maximum of four rotations to kill the Warpriest. If he doesn’t die by the time he calls the Oculus the fourth time, there’ll be no pillars left to hide behind, and the team will wipe.
