Gran Turismo Movie Release Date, Rumors, Leaks, News, and More

Video game lovers can hardly wait for the upcoming Gran Turismo movie. This racing simulation video game is the highest-selling PlayStation video game, and Hollywood has been trying to make a cinematic adaptation for years. This is the release date, rumors, leaks, news, and everything we currently know about the upcoming film.

When is the Gran Turismo release date?

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.11

The Gran Turismo movie is set to release in theaters on August 11, 2023, by Columbia Pictures. The film is set to be produced by PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan alongside Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti.

Who is in the Gran Turismo cast?

There have currently been no confirmed cast members for the film. However, the movie currently has Jason Hall (American Sniper) as its writer and Neill Blomkamp (Elysium) as its director. Blomkamp has worked with many A-list actors in the past, including Matt Damon, Hugh Jackman, and Sigourney Weaver. It remains a mystery as to who he will team up with in this film.

It is also possible that he will work with frequent collaborator Sharlto Copley on this film, as Copley and Blomkamp have worked together on District 9, Elysium, Chappie, and many short films.

Have there been any Gran Turismo leaks?

There have been no leaks for the upcoming film. However, the movie currently has a logline: Based on a true story, the film is the ultimate wish fulfillment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race car driver.

This would be another game-to-film adaptation from Sony Pictures and PlayStation Productions after the 2022 release of Uncharted. This action-adventure starring Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg earned a successful $402 million worldwide, which may be why they are eager to create more cinematic adaptations of popular video games.
