Valheim was released on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on September 29, 2022, but to confuse as many people as possible, the game was only released on PC. Iron Gate’s open-world survival game will be coming to Xbox eventually, but when is that, and will it be coming to Xbox Game Pass at the same time?
When is the Valheim Xbox release date?
Valheim will be released on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One in early spring 2023 as a console launch exclusive. The game will be included in Xbox Game Pass from day one when it is released on console. Meanwhile, Valheim is currently available on Windows and Linux through Humble, Steam, or the Microsoft Store, and is verified for play on the Steam Deck. The game can also be played on PC via Game Pass for those with a PC Game Pass or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership, although it is not available through Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game has not been confirmed for any other platforms at this time.
Valheim can be played in single-player or in co-op for up to 10 players. PC players will be glad to find Iron Gate has implemented cross-play for everyone through the Patch 0.211.7 update on September 27. As such, players can play together on the same server no matter where they’re playing from. To do so, the server host needs to enable cross-play functionality. After this, players can join using the regular IP address or through a join code that will be generated for all those who want to join that server. Steam players who just want to play with other Steam players will find very little has changed following the update with the exception that servers will have a marker that clarifies whether they are cross-platform servers. Players can also now mark servers down as favorite servers. Detailed patch notes can be found on Steam.
