JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9 is right around the corner, with The JOJOLands set to begin serialization in monthly Ultra Jump on February 17, 2023. Many details are being kept closely guarded, and while the Japanese publication of the run has been confirmed and now officially started, we are still awaiting an official manga release date in English.
Where does JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Part 9: The JOJOLands manga take place?
The JOJOLands takes place in Hawaii, on the island of O’ahu. Up until the first part of the manga series was published, many had theorized that the “subtropical islands” teased in its official description were pointing towards having this story take place somewhere like the Canary Islands, or New Zealand. That has now proven to not be the case.
The JOJOLands will be the third part of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure story to be set in the Steel Ball Run universe. While many are hoping there will be another outing once this run has reached its conclusion, others are theorizing this will be the beginning of the end for the manga series.
With parts 7 and 8 taking place in a completely different continuity to the first 6 parts of the series, there have been some interesting narrative twists. Everything does tie together, and it appears as though this alternate universe will reach its end once The JOJOLands is over.
Of course, that could be quite some time, as there has been no end date officially set. Part 8, JoJolion, ran for over 10 years before concluding. If writers follow suit here, The JOJOLands could run well into 2033, and perhaps even beyond. As the wait between parts has also been the longest, totaling 18 months between parts 8 and 9, there could be plenty up the sleeves of the creative team.
