Counter-Strike 2 Free-to-Play

Counter-Strike 2 Free-to-Play: Is CSGO 2 Free?

Following the game’s reveal, one of the first questions CSGO fans had was “Is Counter-Strike 2 free-to-play?” While CS2 going free-to-play would mean more players populating the game servers, it can also open the game up to more cheaters and/or shady microtransactions. Here’s the need-to-know info on whether or not CSGO 2 will be free to play on PC.

Will Counter-Strike 2 be free to play on PC?

Counter-Strike 2 will be free to play on PC when it launches during summer 2023.

Players can expect the game to be monetized in a similar way to CSGO, though there will likely be some modern takes on monetization to help bring in more money. Expect the usual microtransactions for cosmetic items and, potentially, a battle pass.

As for handling cheaters, Valve has continued to work hard on developing one of the best anti-cheats out there, as well as giving passionate community members the ability to police the game and work against hackers. This should hopefully mean the cheater counter will be low in CS2 despite the F2P model.
