Is Twitter Down? Logout Error and Login Issues

Twitter is down as reported by many Twitter users who are experiencing multiple logout errors and login issues. We can also verify that logging into Twitter is not working properly at the moment, with the app both on mobile and PC unable to get users to log into their accounts. This is creating a lot of confusion, while Twitter faces a lot of continued resistance for its new API fees that companies like WordPress are deciding not to pay anymore. Here’s what we know about this persistent Twitter login bug.

Twitter Down: How to fix the login issue

At the time of this writing, the only way to fix Twitter being down with these login issues is to wait for the company to repair the issue.

Currently, trying to log into Twitter automatically logs users out right after their password username and password are entered in. It’s unclear why this auto logout is happening, and we hope that it’s just a programming error and not something more insidious like a hack. We tried logging into Twitter using our Google information, so it’s possible that there may be a break somewhere between Twitter and its login selection.

Twitter has had other login issues in the past, so not being able to assess Twitter accounts and tweets have been a problem. Earlier in February, users were met with a message that read “Cannot retrieve Tweets at this time.” Then in July 2022, users were also met with a “something went wrong” and “Tweets aren’t loading right now” pop-up errors as well. This gives us some optimism that these login errors will be resolved sooner than later, though there may be something more technical at play here.

One possibility is that Twitter is getting a significant update as part of Elon Musk’s plans for so-called Twitter 2.0, and perhaps not everything was worked out properly. Twitter has also been removing bot accounts lately, which may be impacting valid users of the social media platform.
