Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom allows players to carry over their save data from Breath of the Wild, but fans are worried about BotW saves done on the higher difficulty Master Mode. The transferred save data is admittedly not much and only includes the horses and the Picture of the Champions, otherwise known as the Champion’s Ballad picture. Still, not having to start completely over in terms of taming horses in Tears of the Kingdom would be a great time-saver. Here’s whether BotW Master Mode saves transfer over to ToTK.
Do BotW Master Mode saves carry over to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom?
Unfortunately, no. At the time of this writing, BotW Master Mode save data will not carry over to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
This is especially disappointing because Master Mode is more difficult, so you would expect that horses tamed in this mode would be transferred over (and perhaps even with a bonus). If you have the right amiibo, you’ll luckily still be able to get Epona, but otherwise all of the horses you had in Master Mode will not show up in stables in Tears of the Kingdom.
We hope that this is actually some kind of bug or glitch on Nintendo’s part, because it doesn’t seem like there’s a good reason for this limitation. Maybe at some point Nintendo will release a Master Mode for Tears of the Kingdom as DLC later down the road, and at that time you’ll be able to carry over horses from BotW Master Mode. If so, we might see a Master Mode DLC soon for the game, given that the higher difficult mode launched three months after the release of Breath of the Wild.
