Minecraft Camels Location Tame Ride Breed

Minecraft 1.20 Update: Camel Location and How to Tame, Ride, and Breed

Camels are a Minecraft mob that was added in update 1.20. A few unique properties make camels a highly desirable mount, but they’ll only spawn in specific locations. However, once you tame a camel, you can ride and breed them just like other mounts.

In this guide, you’ll learn what locations Camels spawn in, how to tame and ride them, and how to breed them to make Baby Camels.

Minecraft camel spawn locations

If you’re looking for a camel in Minecraft, they spawn in a particular location. At least one spawns in each desert village when the world is generated. So, depending on the biome you start in, you may have to travel a long way to find a camel partner.

Minecraft Camel How to Tame and Ride

Camels don’t need to be tamed like a horse or donkey and can be ridden at any time. However, to control a camel, you’ll need to equip it with a saddle. Unfortunately, this is one of the few items that can’t be crafted in the game. Instead, you’ll need to find one in a chest in one of the following locations:

  • Ancient City
  • Bastion Remnant
  • Desert Temple
  • Dungeon
  • End City
  • Jungle Temple
  • Nether Fortress
  • Stronghold
  • Village

Alternatively, you can find them as a treasure from fishing or by trading with a Master-level leatherworker villager.

There are also some mobs that drop saddles. Killing a strider equipped with a saddle or a ravager will always drop one. Once you have a saddle, either use it on the camel or equip it to the animal via its inventory screen.

Riding a camel gives you a few unique advantages you don’t get with other mounts. Two players can ride a camel, and the creature is tall enough that most melee mobs can’t reach to attack players.

How to breed camels

Minecraft Camel how to breed

Breeding camels in Minecraft works just as it does with other mounts. Once you have two camels you’ll need to get them within eight blocks of each other and give each of them cacti. They’ll enter love mode and seek each other out. Within a few moments, a baby camel should spawn near them. The adult camels have a cooldown time of five minutes before they can breed again.

Baby camels take around 20 minutes to become adults. However, you can speed this up by feeding them cactus.
