Where to find Sniffer Egg locations in Minecraft
You won’t find Sniffers roaming the world of Minecraft. Instead, you’ll need to find Sniffer Eggs with the new archeology feature.
Here’s how to get sniffer eggs:
- Make a Brush with this recipe:
- Feather
- Copper Ingot
- Stick
- Find some warm ocean ruins (the main building is sandstone)
- Look for Suspicious Sand within the ruins.
- Use the brush on the Suspicious Sand.
Each Suspicious Sand has a chance of dropping a Sniffer Egg.
How to hatch Sniffer Eggs in Minecraft
Once you have a Sniffer Egg, you just have to place it as a block to hatch it. It takes about 20 minutes for the egg to hatch. However, you can speed up the process by placing it on a moss block, which reduces the time needed by half.
One thing to keep in mind is that you need to remain within 128 blocks of the egg at all times. If you get further away than that, then progress toward hatching is suspended until you return.
How to tame Sniffers
There’s no need to tame Sniffers in Minecraft. They’re born passive and will stay that way regardless of what happens. You can’t ride them, so breaking them like a horse or donkey is unnecessary.
Left alone, Sniffers will roam around on their own. However, they can be fenced in or controlled with a lead if you have a particular area you want them to go.
How to use Sniffers to find seeds
The primary use of Sniffers in Minecraft is to find ancient seeds. They do this by wandering around until they find a 6×6 space consisting of one or more of the following block types:
- Coarse Dirt
- Dirt
- Grass Block
- Moss Block
- Mud
- Muddy Mangrove Roots
- Podzol
- Rooted Dirty
When a Sniffer finds an ancient seed, it’ll use its nose to dig until it finds either a Torchflower Seed or Pitcher Pod. After that, there’s an eight-minute cooldown before it can repeat this action.
How to breed Sniffers
You can breed Sniffers in Minecraft like any other animal. Giving a Sniffer a Torchflower Seed will cause it to enter Love Mode. Get two Sniffers in Love Mode close together, and they’ll generate a Sniffer Egg.
