Multiple Baldur’s Gate 3 burrow holes are spread throughout the map, but the way to get through them can be tough to figure out. This is because the burrow holes are even smaller than rocky crevices and so they require an even smaller set of solutions. Finding passage through them will typically have you discover a shortcut to another room and perhaps preview any traps or enemies that might be waiting for you. Fortunately, there are multiple ways to get through these holes by way of magic and potions. Here are several methods on how to get through burrow holes in BG3.
How to get through Baldur’s Gate 3 burrow holes
There are three ways to get through the burrow holes:
- Use Druid Wild Shape – A party member with Druid powers can use the Wild Shape ability to change into a spider. Interestingly, the cat is also small enough to pass through the hole.
- Cast the Gaseous Form spell or scroll – This Level 3 Transmutation spell that a Sorcerer, Warlock, Wizard, or Circle of the Spores Druid can learn can be cast on a party member to turn the person into a gas. In this form, a character can get through pretty much any gap.
- Use Enlarge/Reduce spell or scroll – You can use this Level 2 Transmutation Spell that the Sorcerer or Wizard can learn to make someone small enough to fit through. Since burrow holes are incredibly small, you’ll need to use the Reduce effect on a gnome or halfling. (Note: If none of your party members are those races, you can use the Level 1 Disguise Self spell or the Mask of the Shapeshifter from the game’s Digital Deluxe Edition.)
Unfortunately, all of these solutions only target a single creature, so it will expend quite a lot of resources to get a four-member party through a burrow hole. For those who have experience with Dungeons & Dragons 5E, these holes are essentially a way to add the Tiny size in some way into the game.
