The Starfield best traits are those that provide unique items or boosts that don’t have significant downsides. There are 17 traits that you can choose from during character creation, and each of them have a brief, though sometimes vague, description on what they do. You can pick up to three traits, but we suggest that you pick carefully because you cannot select new traits later in the game, even if you choose to remove a trait. Here are our suggestion for the best traits that you can select in Starfield.
What are the Starfield best traits?
The following are the best traits that we think you should choose for a general playthrough:
- Dream Home – Having a 125,000 credit mortgage does sound like a lot, but it doesn’t take long selling guns and loot to earn 125,000 credits to pay it off. The house you get from this trait is definitely luxurious, especially for the price of apartments in the other major cities, and is perfect for anyone who cares about housing and decorating.
- Empath – In most playthroughs, you will want to have a companion, if just to have an extra person to haul loot. It’s fairly easy to pick options that companions like, so you’ll get the Self-Esteem buff often.
- Extrovert – Once again, you’ll want to play with a companion since they’re extra source of damage and they have extra inventory space. This means that the Extrovert buff is pretty much active for most of your runthrough.
- Kid Stuff – While paying your parents 2% of your credits every in-game week adds up over time, they not only add unique dialogue to the game, but they can give you unique items that you can’t find anywhere else.
- Terra Firma – Most of your exploration will take place on a planet or moon. There are a few places where you have to fight on a space station or ship, but they are rare compared to the number of times you’ll need to fight pirates or survey resources while on the surface. This trait will get you 50 extra health and an oxygen boost while fighting on land.
- Wanted – Every once in a while, you’ll encounter bounty hunters when jumping to a new system. So long as you’re proficient with ship combat, killing these extra enemies will get you a fair amount of experience and loot. It will also help you clear the challenge for the Piloting skill, which you need to do if you want B-class and C-class ships.
Of course, the other traits on the list have their places, especially if you want to roleplay as a specific character that is a part of a faction or religion. But the options above are great for almost every spacefarer.
