The Counter-Strike 2 Wingman mode sticks out among the others. The other notable one is Deathmatch, which is a staple that is in almost every shooter. Here’s what Wingman is in CS2 and how to unlock it.
What is Wingman in CS2?
Wingman in Counter-Strike 2 is a two-on-two mode. Much like the Gunfight mode in the more recent Call of Duty titles, Wingman is a more intimate version of the same game. The maps are smaller and only have one bomb defusal site, which makes sense since there are fewer players. The first to nine round wins takes the entire match, so these matches might not be too much shorter than those in other modes.
The modified maps at launch are Inferno, Nuke, Overpass, and Vertigo, which are all Bomb Defusal maps. More will undoubtedly be added in the future.
Wingman, however, is locked when first booting up Counter-Strike 2. To unlock Wingman, you have to simply play the game. Much like the Private Matchmaking and Competitive tabs, you have to play game in the Casual or Deathmatch tabs to unlock it. There will be a small percentage ticker that shows you how far you have to go until you unlock Wingman. While matches don’t all give the same percentage, it looks like it will take around five to seven matches to unlock Wingman.
You have to unlock Wingman to play it competitively online against other humans, but you can also play it from the start with bots. To play alongside and against bots, go to Practice and make sure that Wingman is selected. From there, select a map and start the match and you will be good to go. Practice modes do not unlock any progress toward the other locked modes, but it might be good for those who want to see what Wingman is about before testing it against real people.
