If you’re wondering where The Finals change display name function might be, you’re not the only one. With The Finals beta playtest up and running on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, many players who are experiencing this team-based shooter from Embark Studios for the first time are confused with their IGN or in-game name. In many cases, it will be different than their username on Steam, Xbox Gamertag, and PSN ID. There’s no ability to reset your name in the game itself, but thankfully there’s a way to do without needing to take too long. Here’s how to change your username in The Finals.
How to change your username in The Finals
To change your display name or username in The Finals, you need to finish creating a user account for Embark Studios and tie that account to your platform of choice at the Embark Studios site.
Upon entering The Finals for the first time, you will be given a prompt to sign up for an account with Embark Studios. Given that you’ve likely seen this as a user for the beta playtest, you may have chosen to skip it altogether, which only makes sense since you may not sure if you like the shooter in the first place. Some players also don’t want to give studios any more personal information than they have to for security reasons.
From there, you need to head to the official site for the developer and log in with your account information. Once you reach your profile, you can go to the upper-righthand corner of the page and find the edit button. This will allow you to change your display name in the game as you see fit. If you still don’t like your username or change your mind, you will have to wait for 10 minutes before you can swap it out again.
