Many players are encountering a MW3 Kicked for Inactivity bug while playing matches in multiplayer. In the middle of the match, more than a few players report that they have been abruptly taken out even though they are being active. This mainly happens with snipers who are staying behind cover trying to take a shot and waiting to be rewarded for their patience. Even if they are able to score a kill or two, the system determines that the player is strangely inactive, which is frustrating to say the least. Here’s how to fix the “Kicked for Inactivity” error message for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
How to fix MW3 Kicked for Inactivity bug
You need to make sure that you are moving around the map to fix the Kicked for Activity error message or at least prevent it from happening in MW3.
It’s unclear whether or not developer Sledgehammer Games has made the threshold for inactivity too high on purpose. Getting kicked for inactivity in this way means that campers are penalized. But the problem is that this makes sniping a chore and much harder to do. We recommend trying to find multiple positions around the map where you can snipe, so that the system doesn’t think that you’re just hanging around in one place for too long.
According to one user in a Reddit thread on the issue, this inactivity kick also occurs if a player decides to man a turret for too long. Fortunately, the game will warn players if they are about to get kicked, though this message might be skipped over if they are focusing on a task. At this time, the developer has not identified this as an issue on the official MW3 Trello board, so it looks like this issue won’t be addressed any time soon.
