MW3 Zombies Matchmaking Not Working Filling Modern Warfare 3

MW3 Zombies Matchmaking Not Working: Why Isn’t It Filling Squads?

MW3 Zombies players are noticing that matchmaking isn’t working quite as expected. Instead filling the squad to the max of three, matches often start with one or two players in a team. Obviously, this can put you at a massive disadvantage as content like contracts tend to be balanced toward having three operators tackle them.

Why isn’t MW3 Zombies matchmaking filling teams?

Unfortunately, Activision hasn’t commented on why MW3 Zombies doesn’t make sure all teams are filled before the match starts. Even with the Squad Fill tab checked, I was often deployed as a solo or duo team. So, there’s likely one of two things going on:

  • MW3 Zombies matchmaking is bugged, and matches are starting too quickly.
  • Uneven squads are preventing teams from hitting their max number of teammates.

More than likely, matchmaking is just bugged right now in MW3 Zombies. As stated above, I found that having the Squad Fill tab checked or unchecked made no difference. Oddly, almost as soon as matchmaking begins, I’m put in a lobby, and the game begins the countdown to start. If another player joins before the map starts to load, they’re put into my squad, but if not, I’m out of luck. The worst thing is that if I quit and try to get matched again, I end up burning a contraband gun or my insured slot.

There’s also the possibility that players are queueing as solo or duos on purpose, and somehow, there aren’t enough slots left to fit a three-person team. However, it’s unlikely this is the case since the issue is so common.

Fortunately, you can join other squads in MW3 Zombies once you spawn on the map. Up to six players meet and squad up once they’ve loaded into the match. Given how difficult the higher-level content is, this is a move even a max-size squad will want to make eventually.
