If you’re looking for the fastest way to complete the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Pokedex, we’ve got some tips for speeding things up. There are 400 Pokemon you’ll need to catch to finish the Paldea Pokedex, and it’ll take 200 for the Kitakami Pokedex. Fortunately, there’s some overlap between the two, so it’s a more manageable task than it seems at first glance. If you follow our recommendations below, you’ll have your Scarlet & Violet Pokedex filled up in no time.
What’s the fastest way to complete your Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Pokedex?
You’ll have to put a lot of footwork in to complete the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Pokedex, especially if you’re aiming to fill all the Paldea and Kitakami entries. However, there are a few things you can do to speed things up considerably:
Catch as you play
The best thing you can do to speed up your Pokedex completion in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is to catch every new Pokemon you see as you’re playing. Unlike previous entries, which relied on random encounters, you can see every single Pokemon on the field in Scarlet & Violet. Every one you catch along the way is one less you’ll have to chase down in the post-game.
Why evolve when you can catch?
It can take a ton of time to get Pokedex entries for evolutions. However, many evolved forms are available to catch somewhere in the game. You can use the Pokedex to find each Pokemon’s habitat and see whether an evolved form can be found in the wild or if you’re stuck leveling.
Let past you do the work
If you’ve played any Pokemon games in the past, do yourself a favor and transfer everything to Pokemon Home. You can still bring Pokemon from as far back as the Game Boy Advance titles if you have the correct set of games and hardware. Once you’ve moved everything to Pokemon Home, you can unlock many Pokedex entries at once by transferring applicable Pokemon to Scarlet & Violet.
GTS the version exclusives
You can use the GTS in the Pokemon Home mobile app to look for the version exclusives you need to complete your Pokedex. Unfortunately, this isn’t terribly reliable, so you’ll have to check back often. Do yourself a favor and catch multiples of each Paradox Pokemon available in your version, so you’ll be ready to trade.
