Next Pokemon Game After Scarlet and Violet

Next Pokemon Game: What’s Coming After Scarlet and Violet?

The next Pokemon game after Scarlet and Violet hasn’t been announced yet, and fans are wondering what’s in store for the franchise in the future. It’s been a year and a half since Scarlet and Violet were released, and the last announced DLC for the game, The Indigo Disk, was just released. As such, we assume Game Freak will move on as it did with Sword and Shield. At this point in the development cycle, we usually know something about where Pokemon is headed, but things have been quiet. However, we have a few rumors about the next Pokemon game, which we can discuss below.

What’s the next Pokemon game after Scarlet and Violet?

There haven’t been any major leaks about what the next Pokemon game after Scarlet and Violet will be like. It hasn’t been confirmed whether it’ll be the first 10th-generation main title, a spin-off like Pokemon Legends: Arceus, or if it’ll be a remake. Oddly, the persistent rumor right now is that it won’t be any of those.

The rumors surrounding the next Pokemon game have stated that it’ll be Black/White 3. So, instead of getting a main title, remake, or spin-off, we might get a 5th generation sequel. That would make sense, as a remake of Black/White would feel odd unless Black 2/White 2 also got remakes. However, we’re taking these rumors with a grain of salt, as Game Freak isn’t known for deviating from its playbook to this degree.

One thing that might be preventing news about the next Pokemon game from dropping is the rumored release of the Switch 2 this year. While we’ve been hearing about a Switch Pro or Switch 2 practically since the original console was released, it is getting very long in the tooth, and seven years is a typical lifespan for a console. If a new console is released, we wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo wanted a Pokemon launch title. If this is the case, we expect the Switch 2 and the next Pokemon game to be announced in tandem.
