You’ll notice that one option stays greyed-out in the pause menu that says “???” in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth for most of the game. While mysterious menu items aren’t strange for the Yakuza series, it seems odd that you can make it 40 hours into the game and still have a locked option in the main menu. We’ll reveal the secret behind this question mark menu and when it gets unlocked below.
What’s the greyed-out option in the pause menu in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth?
You won’t unlock the greyed-out pause menu option in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth until you reach Chapter 8: Return to Sender. At this point in the game, Kasuga and Kiryu will part ways, with the former staying in Hawaii and the latter returning to Isezaki Ijincho.
Shortly after Chapter 8 begins, Namba suggests that Kiryu make a bucket list of things he wants to do before he passes away. This Bucket List menu takes the place of the greyed-out menu option.
The Bucket List consists of four sub-menus:
- Life Links
- Memoirs of a Dragon
- Unfinished Business
- Awakening
Life Links are a series of substories involving Date-san, who wants Kiryu to be able to see how he impacted other characters throughout the series. You’ll see multiple cameos from past games here.
Memoirs of a Dragon has you tracking down spots throughout Ijincho and Kamurocho that remind Kiryu of his past. Each features an image and a brief reminiscence of a past game. These also grant Kiryu some Awakening Points.
Unfinished Business consists of the series standard completion list. Here, you’ll find things like “Eat all the items at X restaurant,” “Take the taxi x times,” and other simple goals.
When you hit Chapter 8, Kiryu gets an Awakening Level, which works similarly to Ichiban’s personality mechanic. There are three categories here: Soul, Tech, and Body, which correspond to Kiryu’s fighting styles in this game. You’ll need to level up all three to increase Kiryu’s overall Awakening Level, which is required for some activities.
