Mighty No. 9 Delayed

The Kickstarter campaign for Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9 was wildly successful, and it looked like it was finally going to result in a released game this year. Unfortunately, that's no longer the case.

In a Kickstarter update for backers, Inafune and the rest of the Mighty No. 9 team reveal that the game has been delayed. There will be an official announcement at Gamescom, and now the team is aiming for a Q1 2016 release window.

The update details the main reasons for the game's delay. All of the content in Mighty No. 9 has been finished, but "there are still bugs and issues pertaining to the online features that are included in the game." Developer Comcept and "their partners" will spend the rest of the year ironing out those bugs.

The delay comes in the wake of the Red Ash Kickstarter, another Mega Man-inspired game from Inafune. It failed to reach its funding goal, but it was picked up by Chinese publisher FUZE Entertainment at the last second and will now be developed.

There's something about Inafune launching another Kickstarter before the release of Mighty No. 9 that rubbed people the wrong way, myself included. There may be no correlation with the delay, but that doesn't stop people from drawing their own conclusions.
