Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Halves Post-Release Support, Hints At Paid DLC [UPDATE]

[UPDATE]: Bandai Namco posted on social media today that the change to their Steam page About This Game section was a "technical error," and that they are still planning to support the game for a full year at least. Although the Steam page is now updated again, it still does not include the "Free updates" portion previously included.

[Original Story]: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been out less than a week, and it's already suffered an inordinate amount of controversy. First, there was the "unforeseeable" delay of pre-orders through Amazon and other retailers, and, now, Bandai Namco is apparently reneging on their pre-release promise of a year of  support.

As one Redditor pointed out, where the Steam Page used to advertise "Free updates and post-launch support for more than a year," it now says "Post lunch support for over 6 months." This not only changes the amount of time for which the game will be supported, but it also implies that not all of the post-launch support will be free. See the image comparison below:

You can still see the previous iteration of the Steam page using the Wayback Machine, indicating that this image is, in fact, legitimate.

While several Redditors are calling out Bandai Namco for false advertising, it's unlikely any such claims will go anywhere. As is the case with the ongoing claim against No Man's Sky, anyone bringing the case would have to prove that they wouldn't have bought the game otherwise.

Still though, this has to leave a sour taste in the mouths of anyone who was looking forward to a year of free content.
