Every week, Famitsu posts the most anticipated games of its readers. Once in a while, it's worth reading. Recent times have seen an interesting shakeup, as former kings of the hill Tales of Xillia and Final Fantasy Type-0 made it to shelves and therefore, took themselves out of eligibility. Meet your new most wanted game in Japan, Final Fantasy XIII-2. The full top 20 list goes like this:
1. Final Fantasy XIII-2 (PS3)
2. Monster Hunter 3G (3DS)
3. Mario Kart 7 (3DS)
4. Dragon Quest X (Wii)
5. Dragon’s Dogma (PS3)
6. Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
7. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword (Wii)
8. Persona 4: The Golden (Vita)
9. Fotokano: Picture Girlfriend (PSP)
10. 7th Dragon 2020 (PSP)
11. Monster Hunter 4 (3DS)
12. Gundam Extreme Versus (PS3)
13. New Love Plus (3DS)
14. Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3)
15. Musou OROCHI 2 (PS3)
16. The Last Guardian (PS3)
17. Metal Gear Solid Rising (PS3)
18. Ore no Shikabane-o Koete Yuke (PSP)
19. Sengoku BASARA 3 (PS3)
20. Animal Crossing (3DS)
As December will bring all of the top three to stores, among a few others on that list, expect several more big changes by year's end. Final Fantasy Versus XIII, on the other hand, is getting used to the list, having been hanging around on it for some four years or so. Perhaps Square Enix is trying to be the first company to have a game eventually be ranked in every single position of the countdown before release?
