Monster Hunter 3G Sells Over Half a Million Already

Media Create's sales results for the week of December 5-11 are in, and even though Monster Hunter 3G was released on the 10th, it claims the top spot, with over half a million freaking units sold.

"That's friggin' incredible," said…me a couple of minutes ago. The game's release also obiviously had something to do with the 350,000 3DS systems that were sold.  Here are the top 15:

1. (3DS) Monster Hunter 3G
2. (3DS) Mario Kart 7
3. (3DS) Super Mario 3D Land
4. (PS3) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
5. (PS3) Mobile Suit Gundam Extreme Vs.
6. (NDS) Magician's Quest: Oshare na Mahou Tsukai
7. (PS3) Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi
8. (WII) Kirby's Return to Dream Land
9. (360) The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
10. (WII) Just Dance Wii
11. (WII) Wii Party
12. (WII) PokePark 2: Beyond the World
13. (WII) Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games
14. (PSP) Toaru Kagaku no Chou Denjihou
15. (NDS) Metal Max 2: Reloaded

Hardware went this way:

3DS – 350,321

PSP – 51,191

Wii – 46,018

PS3 – 44,661

DS (all non-3D versions) – 6,630

360 –
3,211

PS2 –
1,268

While Mario and Kirby are proving that some old franchises will always rank among the best sellers, Link is reminding us that all good things come to an end. Released on November 23rd in Japan, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has sold a tad under 250,000 copies to date. That's great, but to put it in perspective, Monster Hunter 3G, a handheld re-release of an older Wii game, took only two days to double that.
