Oh me, oh my. My good pal Paul Gale is at it again with another juicy rumor. This time, it's about Batman: Arkham City developer Rocksteady, and what their next project may be.
I'm always skeptical with wild rumors like this. And even though there was a lot of evidence that Paul's last big rumor could be true, it still remains unconfirmed to this day. But this one… this one feels too good to be true – but I so want it to be true.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Manhattan Crisis.
That's the supposed title of Rocksteady's next game, currently in development. The game is said to use same engine as Arkham City, and feature all four heroes on a half-shell as playable characters, each with their own distinct move-set and weaponry. Sound familiar?
The game would be more on the dark side of things, although there would be classic Ninja Turtle comedy mixed in. It would also feature playable flashbacks where you take the role of Splinter and Hamato Yoshi.
Much like Batman, the TMNT series is filled with notable villains which would all serve as epic boss battles. Bebop and Rocksteady, Shredder and Krang are all mentioned.
Rocksteady has done a fantastic job with bringing the universe of Batman to life, so it's easy to imagine them doing the same with TMNT. TMNT's wealth of characters, action, location, and story would be a perfect match using Arkham City's engine, gameplay, storytelling and open-world structure.
Take this with a huge grain of salt. When things seem too good to be true, a lot of times they are.
Paul Gale himself even appears to be uneasy about this rumor, and admits he doesn't have a source he can tie directly to the rumor.
Unfortunately, Paul did not include any pictures of himself dressed as a Ninja Turtle, but I did manage to find the below video of him performing a Karate demonstration, which will have to suffice.
I really should watch what I say about him, eh?
