Kojima Wants To Make Games Until His Last Breath

Metal Gear is one of the best-selling and most well-received series on the market today (and a personal favorite of mine), but there were a few times where its future looked grim. It wasn't because of the series going off the deep-end, but instead that Hideo Kojima was planning to move on. The thought of Metal Gear retiring is something that nearly makes me shed a tear, but on the bright side Kojima has pledged to make games for as long as he is alive.

While speaking with Eurogamer at the recent Smithsonian event, Hideo Kojima shared his passion for game development, and that he has no plans to ever give it up.

"I don't have any intention of retiring – until the day I die I wil be making games."

He mentioned that this doesn't mean he'll be making Metal Gear games forever, but instead that he'll keep working on projects for as long as physically possible, so don't bet on there being another 30 Metal Gear titles in the works.

Hideo Kojima might be known for Metal Gear but his resume goes beyond that. He's worked on a volume of games including Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, the Boktai series, and of course the two Zone of the Enders titles which did well and will be receiving an HD Collection version soon.

As far as I'm concerned, he's made a few of my favorite games of all-time, and knowing that he's determined to keep rolling out video games is a good thing for the industry and gamers alike.
