I'm the multiplayer guy around here. I accept that title. Nick and Anthony really like single-player experiences, as do many on the GR staff, but tell me this Max Payne 3 multiplayer doesn't look awesome….
How the hell is bullet time going to work in multiplayer? Apparently there'll be different types of "bursts" that players can use to slow down the action around. I have to admit, Rockstar Games actually LEARNS from their games.
Look at the advancement of elements like multiplayer from Grand Theft Auto IV's floaty cars and small looking avatars. Red Dead Redemption anchored things, provided the same single-player quality, and added great competitive multiplayer.
Max Payne 3 to be driving home the nail with competitive multiplayer, tighting up aiming and movement, adding power ups and making everyone so much goddam faster and more agile. I can't wait to use bullet time. Check out the guy diving and staying on the ground while he mows down two more people.
What could the other bursts be?
Gang Wars features two teams in story-based scenarios. This mode will alter objectives as time continues, much like they do in Killzone's multiplayer mode. Painkiller mode will put players in control of either Max himself or his partner Raul.
These two will play like juggernauts while the other players will have to team up to take them down. I haven't been this interested in a multiplayer mode since Battlefield 3, which currently holds The Daniel Bischoff Award for best multiplayer on the market.
This and a possible Grand Theft Auto V release date? What a good day for Rockstar Games!
