Max Payne Remake Remedy Entertainment

Max Payne 1 and 2 Remakes in the Works at Remedy Entertainment

Max Payne 1 and 2 are getting remakes courtesy of Remedy Entertainment. Remedy has entered into an agreement with Rockstar Games to remake the first two games in the Max Payne series. This is excellent news since Remedy was the developer behind the original versions of the games.

When can we expect to see a release date for the Max Payne 1 and 2 remasters?

Unfortunately, aside from the fact that they’re being made, the press release from Remedy doesn’t give us much insight into what to expect from the Max Payne 1 and 2 remakes. We do know that they’ll be developed as a single title for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and that it’ll use Remedy’s proprietary Northlight Engine, which also powered Control. The size of the game will be in line with a typical Remedy game and it’ll be a AAA remake as opposed to a remaster.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said of the remake:

“Max Payne has always held a special place in the hearts of everyone at Remedy, and we know the millions of fans worldwide feel the same. We’re hugely excited to be working with our partners at Rockstar Games once again for the chance to bring the story, action and atmosphere of the original Max Payne games back to players in new ways.”

Rockstar is enthusiastic about the project as well:

“We were thrilled when our long-time friends at Remedy approached us about remaking the original Max Payne games. We are massive fans of the work the Remedy team has created over the years, and we can’t wait to play these new versions.”

The Max Payne 1 and 2 remake is currently in the concept development stage, so it’ll likely be years until we see the final product. However, it’s just good to know it’s in production.

In other news, we could see the next Ghost Recon release in the next year, and the Two Point Campus release date has been pushed back.
