Steadily climbing up the bracket to take the crown of Worst Company In America, Electronic Arts said today that there are a few key corporations that must be happy they're not taking the title today. In a statement to Kotaku, EA Senior Director of Corporate Communications John Reseburg said:
We're sure that British Petroleum, AIG, Philip Morris, and Halliburton are all relieved they weren't nominated this year. We're going to continue making award-winning games and services played by more than 300 million people worldwide.
I have to say, EA is NOT the worst company in America. It's an absolute fact that the generally horrible corporate culture in this country is better reflected in other contenders for the title like AT&T, Walmart, or Bank of America (which finished second).
I have to argue that the financial system itself is much more deserving of derision. That's not to say EA should have a clear conscience, but aren't there bigger fish to fry? And how many of the votes were driven by angry fanboys? With Mass-Effect-3-ending-rage-gate barely winding down at this point, how many votes were driven by spite?
Regardless, EA that retort makes you fucking badass, just stop screwing us over now OK?
