Rayman Origins Already On Clearance?!

Target has already put Rayman: Origins on clearance, as shown by Dack from Hardcoregamer, even though the game has only been out for five months. Why the bargain bin treatment? It's always disheartening to see such a well-received title undersell and then be quickly undervalued.

Of course, this could just be a special sale, but the price tag has been steadily dropping since its release. Target obviously purchased too many copies of the title as has tried everything to get it off store shelves, dropping it to $39.99 and then $29.99 before the $15 clearance we see here. (Of course, maybe more people will get it now…)

Ubisoft has likely been disappointed in the sales for Rayman: Origins, despite it being one of Game Revolution's favorite platformers and having a release on all three major consoles as well as the PlayStation Vita.

It would probably have been better for Ubisoft to push the release for Rayman: Origins to February or March of this year (heck, even now since there's so little going on) so that it wasn't drowned out by the holiday rush. Or if they didn't charge $60 for a cel-shaded 2D platformer, which doesn't look like a $60 title to a regular person. Or if they marketed it better. Or if it was strictly a downloadable title to cut down on distribution and manufacturing costs.

Ironically, Rayman: Origins would have sold better for $15 on XBLA and PS3.
