Dragon’s Crown Not Cancelled, Finds New Publisher

When Amazon cancelled pre-orders for Dragon's Crown, I feared for the worst that my most anticipated Vita title would be lost to the ether. I didn't think Vanillaware could afford to drop the title outright and that "another publisher like Atlus should be able to pick it up easily". Well, it looks like that's exactly the case.

UTV Ignition Games have announced that the 2D action RPG will be handled by Atlus and be available for PS3 and PlayStation Vita, hopefully keeping the promise of four-play multiplayer and cross-platform play intact. Lokesh Dhar, senior vice president of UTV ignition Entertainment, was sullen about the decision:

While we are saddened to no longer be associated with the Dragon’s Crown project, we are very confident that the title is in excellent hands with Atlus. Since the initial announcement, information on timing and features in the game have changed and other details regarding design and functionality are yet to be determined. We are confident that Atlus and Vanillaware will deliver the finest game possible.

There's no word on when Dragon's Crown will release, so I hope it at least appears at E3. All we know is that, based on Sony's official blog, that it won't be $29.99. Pre-orders on Amazon have the PS3 version at $49.99 and the Vita version at $39.99. I, for one, don't care about the price. It could be $100 and I would still buy it.
