When the widely talked about Oculus Rift Summer Sale ends, the virtual reality bundle will continue to be sold at a reduced price point, confirmed Oculus VR today.
Going forward the Oculus Rift will be sold at an MSRP of $499. The bundle will include the Oculus Rift headset, Oculus Touch controllers, two sensors, in addition to five games at the price of $399. The five games are as follows:
- Lucky’s Tale
- Medium
- Toybox
- Quill
- Dead and Buried
- Robo Recall
In order to achieve the price reduction, Oculus VR has removed the Xbox One controller and Oculus Remote from the package, a total value of around $60.
Nonetheless, this move puts the Oculus Rift in a competitive position that makes it comparable to the PlayStation VR, in addition to giving it a huge advantage over the HTC Vive.
This month’s price drop has propelled sales for a variety of software, which has been beneficial for developers. This could be just what the virtual reality industry needs to make a push toward a mainstream install base.
