There has been no shortage of baffling news as of late, and today’s announcement by Ubisoft that Assassin’s Creed Origins and Final Fantasy XV will collaborate on new content for each game can be safely added to that pile. But it’s true, and each game will have new content inspired by the other starting on August 30.
“This collaboration is the result of being huge fans,” Assassin’s Creed Origins game director said. “There’s a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other’s work.”
Starting on August 30, Final Fantasy XV players who have obtained the Dream Egg from the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event will receive an Assassin’s Creed outfit for Noctis. Then, the release of the Assassin’s Festival DLC for FFXV will drop on August 31st. This will turn the town of Lestallum into an Assassin’s Creed-themed festival for a limited amount of time. This will include new activities, new items and another outfit.
The announcement also states that you’ll be able to find little hints or Easter eggs in each of the Assassin’s Creed Origins announcement trailer and the Nov. 2016 Final Fantasy XV trailer, the similarities in which they call “the unofficial start of the references made between the two franchises.”
