Mario Party: The Top 100 has been announced during today’s Nintendo Direct presentation, with Nintendo revealing that they are packing all of the series’ best mini-games into one bundle.
The game, which will be exclusive to the 3DS, will feature all of the greatest mini-games from the Mario Party series, spanning multiple console generations including the Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Wii U. While the Mario Party series has always been notably hit-and-miss in terms of quality, it certainly has its fans and a collection combining its best bits without the needless filler is a welcome change of pace.

Nintendo hasn’t revealed which of the mini-games will make their appearance in the collection, though we’ve already spotted a few of our favorites in the brief clips offered during the Nintendo Direct presentation, so hopefully they really have separated the wheat from the chaff.
It’s unclear whether or not Mario Party: The Top 100 does away with the board game format altogether, in order to focus solely upon the mini-games. While many veteran players of the series would probably agree that this would be a good decision, the tabletop setting of the series has its admirers who might be disappointed by the transformation into a simple mini-game collection.
Mario Party: The Top 100 will debut on the 3DS in January 2018.
