Alleged Xbox 720 Chip Manufacturing Issues Could Delay Console Launch

We still have no official word from Microsoft on when we can expect the next Xboxor whether it even exists for that matterbut current buzz on the net indicates that their next-gen console will launch late next year or early 2014. However, thanks to a new report from SemiAccurate, we may end up waiting even longer.

According to the outlet, rumor has it that the Xbox 720's processor (allegedly being manufactured by AMD) has run into a few production problems. Apparently the chipcodenamed "Oban"is currently being mass produced in the Far East, but the final product is less than stellar, with the bulk of the chips clearly unable to pass quality testing.

The source goes on to add that if this continues to prove to be a major issue for Microsoft over the coming months and they don't have a solid working product by year's end, we likely won't see the new Xbox until 2014.
