Rumor: Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Headed to PS4

Despite appearing on every platform known to man, the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection hasn’t saw fit to find its way onto PS4 except, fittingly, it might have just snuck up upon us. Are you ready to rage at Raiden and bawl over The Boss one last time?

Reddit user naninho205 stumbled across an updated Armature Studios’ post on their website, listing the company as working on the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection for PS4. The studio, who ported the HD Collection to PS Vita but took a backseat as Bluepoint took charge of the PS3 effort, has already removed all trace of the additional platform.

The collection, which bundles Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 3 (which comes with both Metal Gear 1 and 2), and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker – aka the one no one played but is really, really good – has already been released at a discounted price on Xbox 360, PS3 and PS Vita.

As of writing, there is no mention of the collection appearing on additional next-gen platforms, so sorry guys, your Snake Switch fantasies will have to wait. What is promising, though, is the declaration on the Armature portfolio page that booms ‘Archived Game Content Coming Soon.’

Konami, with Metal Gear Survive on the horizon, seem all too keen to milk that cow (or should that be snake?) for all its worth in the absence of something that isn’t its Pro Evolution Soccer series. Having said that, this is the umpteenth time most of us will have owned it, yet Metal Gear Solid 4 has been untouched and (frustratingly) Metal Gear Solid has been left in its original form for the better part of two decades, if you don’t count the equally-ancient Twin Snakes remake. Come on Konami, do your thing.
