Rumor: Pokemon Nintendo Switch Is Now Being Localized

With a new Pokemon Nintendo Switch game confirmed to be in development, committed fans have been listening out for any hints of its progress. Well, a new rumor has finally surfaced, surrounding the game’s localization.

According to Pixelpar, who’s proven to be a dependable source in the past, the “initial translations for Pokemon Switch are planned to be completed between April – June.”

Pixelpar posted this on Twitter:

It looks like the original source of this information is the Pokemon job listings page, which advertises an open position for a Localisation Editor. You can read the job description below:

Localisation Editor (6 month minimum contract) – Spanish

We will be looking for a Localisation Editor in the coming months for Spanish.

The Localisation Editor (6 -month fixed term contract minimum) is a member of the editing team and works closely with the other localisation editors, translators and project coordinators on all editorial facets of video games, and related materials (video game strategy guide, video game web site etc.) in Spanish. This will include a high level of knowledge regarding native slang, phraseologies, and nuances in Spanish.

It’s unclear what exactly this Pokemon game is. It could be a remake, a port to Nintendo Switch, or a new game entirely. With the Switch’s more powerful hardware, perhaps we’ll see a totally new look for Pokémon, which is available to play both at home, and on the go.
